Is it possible to install updated NIC drivers in FreeNAS? | FreeNAS Community

A double post is when a person posts the same thing two times. But many internal things are radically different. So I decided to install a different Mobo I have. I wasn't certain if Cange needed to edit any files for the OS to recognize the new card.

There is no benefit. I have read, that LSI had a buggy P20 for some time. Apologies, I really did search always do. Joined Mar 6, Messages 4 Thanks 0.
Folks do this all the time, there should only be some minor settings that need changing the changing of NIC will may be onebut over all it will work. For some reason, I've had services bind to the secondary interface but not the primary interface.
The chances of needing a failover are about nil and Frrenas is not worth the time in my case.

The FreeBSD drivers for it are apparently not very good, from what my searches have turned up, and so I'm wondering if I can install a more recent kernel in FreeNAS in order to get an updated driver?

My neighbor who knows a little bit of Linux frenas lines or whatever you call them showed me where the FreeNAS box auto-selected BaseTX for the network card. I added a second NIC, and that seems to work fine as well.
Replacing network card / NIC
There is indeed a reason why forums allow editing -- to fix mistakes, for the most part, and also to add things the poster forgot to include originally. Thread starter Zpunky Start date Mar 6, I'm beginning to see a pattern here, where you are incapable of separating your own personal worldview from external reality.
At the same time, it creates an unwelcoming, if not outright hostile, environment for users who want to resolve their FreeNAS problems.
